ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, is a dental procedure performed to treat and save a tooth that has a damaged or infected pulp (the innermost part of the tooth). Here’s an overview of the root canal procedure:

    1.    Diagnosis : The dentist first examines the tooth and takes X-rays to assess the extent of the damage or infection. Common reasons for needing a root canal include severe tooth decay, a cracked or fractured tooth, or a dental abscess.
    2.    Local Anesthesia : Before the procedure begins, the dentist administers local anesthesia to numb the affected tooth and the surrounding area, ensuring that the patient remains comfortable and pain-free throughout the treatment.
    3.    Isolation : The dentist places a rubber dam around the tooth to keep it dry and free from saliva during the procedure.
    4.    Access Opening : The dentist creates an access opening in the crown of the tooth, allowing them to reach the infected or damaged pulp.
    5.    Cleaning and Shaping : The dentist removes the infected or damaged pulp tissue from the tooth’s root canals. They then clean and shape the canals to prepare them for filling.
    6.    Filling : The cleaned and shaped root canals are filled with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha to seal off the space and prevent further infection.
    7.    Restoration : After the root canal, a dental crown or filling is placed on the tooth to restore its strength and function. This step ensures that the treated tooth can function normally and blend in with the rest of the teeth.

Root canal treatment is often the last resort to save a tooth that would otherwise need to be extracted. It is a highly effective procedure that can alleviate pain and discomfort caused by dental infections and allow patients to retain their natural teeth. It’s essential to follow the dentist’s post-treatment instructions and maintain good oral hygiene to ensure the long-term success of a root canal-treated tooth.

RE-ROOT CANAL TREATMENT :

Re-root canal treatment, also known as a retreatment, is a dental procedure performed when a previously treated root canal becomes infected or needs additional attention. During re-root canal treatment, the dentist will remove the existing filling material, clean the canals, and then seal them to prevent further infection. If you have specific questions or concerns about re-root canal treatment, it’s best to consult with a dentist for personalized advice.
